logcat.ai raises $2.55M to build the future of device systems engineeringRead

Team

A decade in the hardest part of device software.

We're building autonomous OS bring-up. Here's who, and here's what already ships.

§ 01 — Founders

Autonomous bring-up needs someone who has done it, and someone who can make it run as a system. That's the split.

13+ years porting modern, open builds of Android and the Linux kernel onto devices whose vendors shipped a closed, older one and never intended an upgrade. No vendor source, no documentation, deriving the hardware's behavior from the binaries themselves.

The hardest instance was MediaTek, which the bring-up community treated as a closed box. In 2015, reverse engineering produced the first officially supported CyanogenMod build on a MediaTek device. Nobody had done it before. Then eight years doing that work at company scale.

13+ years building distributed systems, and a pivotal role in scaling Esper's platform past a million devices under management. Managed OS fleets across Android, Linux, and iOS, in production, for enterprises.

Device engineering runs on enormous artifacts and proprietary source that can't leave the building. Moving that volume, and running the whole platform inside a customer's own environment, is a distributed systems problem. That's the engineering that turns the craft into a product.

§ 02 — Together

The better part of a decade on the same team.

We were both founding engineers at Esper, shipping managed device fleets to enterprises. Depth and scale, already proven to work together. logcat.ai is those two halves aimed at the one job in software that never got automated.

§ 03 — Shipping

What ships today.

Autonomous bring-up is where this goes. It isn't where it starts, and we won't pretend otherwise.

Diagnose ships today: cited root cause across bugreports, logcat, dmesg, modem traces, and CAN captures. Remediate is in research preview, proposing cross-layer fixes tied back to the investigation that produced them, with the engineer holding the merge button.

That's the whole claim right now. The rest we'll show you when it ships.

§ 04 — Backing

$2.55M pre-seed, led by Founders' Co-op.

With Act One Ventures, TheFounderVC, Shorewind Capital, Clayoquot Capital, and Alumni Ventures.

We're moving toward a world where software and intelligence extend far beyond our laptops and phones, yet the tooling to build high-quality products for that world is still missing. That's why I'm incredibly excited to be working with the team at logcat.ai, one of the only teams in the world truly up for the challenge.
