13+ years porting modern, open builds of Android and the Linux kernel onto devices whose vendors shipped a closed, older one and never intended an upgrade. No vendor source, no documentation, deriving the hardware's behavior from the binaries themselves.

The hardest instance was MediaTek, which the bring-up community treated as a closed box. In 2015, reverse engineering produced the first officially supported CyanogenMod build on a MediaTek device. Nobody had done it before. Then eight years doing that work at company scale.

13+ years building distributed systems, and a pivotal role in scaling Esper's platform past a million devices under management. Managed OS fleets across Android, Linux, and iOS, in production, for enterprises.

Device engineering runs on enormous artifacts and proprietary source that can't leave the building. Moving that volume, and running the whole platform inside a customer's own environment, is a distributed systems problem. That's the engineering that turns the craft into a product.
